CHANGE NIGERIA

I want us to imbibe virtues, traits that could help evolve CHANGE in our Country. Let’s embrace SOCIAL JUSTICE, FAIRNESS and remain FEARLESS and STEADFAST in our goal to make this country a better place to live in from NOW…. The idea is to have a POSITIVE MINDSET TOWARDS A GOOD CAUSE. Most people always say that there is too much corruption and greed in Nigeria apparently because of individual sensitivity to National Insecurity and lack of confidence in some of our leaders. To this school of thinkers, change will not work because everybody is perceived to be corrupt. However, I want to state emphatically that it is a mindset problem. We have to develop the right MENTAL ATTITUDE or MINDSET that will embrace CHANGE to be able to achieve National progress. We need to have total commitment to PUBLIC SERVICE. You got to have the right form of ideas of what will stimulate the quantum leap. It is really on this basis of that quantum leap that we can achieve progress that can surmount POVERTY which is our greatest enemy now if not the challenge of our time.
Once our mindset is geared towards eradicating Poverty through concerted efforts towards the goal of WEALTH CREATION, which of course is ENTREPRENUERSHIP, change will develop in our mindset and take us to another level of Nation building. I BELIEVE IN NIGERIA AND TOGETHER WE CAN ALL MAKE IT RIGHT. Let’s forget the past and bury our hatchets and embrace the new task of change without recourse and deviation from the pertinent task of Nation building. GOD BLESS NIGERIA. SIASIA SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR THIS

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles are expected to face tough oppositions in their first match in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Egypt, as Venezuela coach has vowed to make things unbearable for the Coach Samson Siasia boys on Friday.

The coach, who also handles his country’s senior team in the 2010 World Cup qualifier, promised to present the best team ever in the Under-20 World Cup in Egypt. He said his team had what it takes to rule the world.

"We always believed that we could do it. I can sleep easily because I didn't let the players down. I told them that we'd reach the World Cup in Egypt and we managed it. We've got a team with the desire to achieve great things and against Nigeria on Friday, the world will see a determined young team with zeal to make name for themselves and the country," he said.

He said they were not afraid of the Nigerian team because they had been following all their trial matches before now.
Venezuela's shock qualification for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup, ‘Egypt 2009’ will go down as one of the country's biggest football achievement to date.
Under the steady hand of Coach Farias, who is also in charge of the Vinotinto senior side, the hard-working Venezuelans produced the goods on home soil, qualifying ahead of the likes of six-time world Under-20 champions, Argentina.

Venezuela got their South American Under-20 Championship bid off to a perfect start when they finished top of their first-round group, before following up with a 2–1 victory over Colombia in their opening six-team final round encounter. Successive 3–0 defeats by Paraguay and Brazil put their Egyptian dream in jeopardy, but a 1–1 draw with Argentina and 3–1 win over Uruguay in their final match sealed fourth place and a qualifying berth for the Vinotinto. Of their nine matches, they won three, drew four and lost two, scoring 11 goals and conceding 12 in the process.

Farias's fleeting professional career as a creative midfielder, which took in just 10 games at Monagas in 1992, only served to underline his determination to succeed as a coach. Indeed, within a year, he had taken the helm at the recently formed Nueva Cadiz, where he won titles with the club's Under-17 and Under-20 teams. From there, he enjoyed successful spells at various Venezuelan top-flight clubs, before coming to international prominence when he led Deportivo Tachira to the quarterfinals of the 2004 Copa Libertadores, where they lost to Brazilian heavyweights, Sao Paulo. In 2007, while in charge of Deportivo Anzoategui, he accepted an offer to become Venezuela’s senior national team coach. He was the only senior coach to lead a side at the Sudamericano.

Star players:
At just 19 years of age, goalkeeper Rafael Romo is already a full-fledged football icon in Venezuela. Born on February 25, 1990, his late penalty save against Colombia in the Vinotinto's last match of the first group phase at the Sudamericano, proved decisive in ensuring his team's place in the final six-team round. Outstanding final-round displays against Colombia, Argentina and Uruguay also played a major part in his country’s qualification for Egypt 2009, while his assets include agility, sharp reflexes and surprisingly good feet for a player measuring 1.97m (over 6'4").
Other Venezuelan men to watch are defender Jose Manuel Velasquez, midfielder Jonathan Del Valle and forward Jose Salomon Rondon.

EUROPEAN LEAGUE FOR AFRICAN PLAYERS THIS WEEK

Euro-goals Africa: 19-20 Sept
The BBC's African sports programme Fast Track brings you a weekly rundown of all the African goal scorers across the top leagues in Europe.

ENGLAND

Ivory Coast's Didier Drogba was both provider and scorer as Chelsea continued their 100% winning start to the season.

Ashley Cole headed in Drogba's cross to open the scoring.

Drogba then scored the winning goal in the 3-0 victory over Spurs, before leaving the pitch with a calf injury.

The only other African scorer in England was Nigeria defender, Joseph Yobo , he hit the back of the net as Everton beat Blackburn 3-0.

SPAIN

Mali midfielder Seydou Keita was on target for Barcelona as the titleholders thrashed visiting Atletico Madrid 5-2.

Barcelona have now won three games out of three this term and are equal on points with Real Madrid at the top of the Spanish league table.

Fellow Malian Frederic Kanoute scored one of the goals as his side Sevilla beat Osasuna 2-0.

South African Nasief Morris scored the winner for Racing Santander who beat Malaga 2-1.

Cameroonian Pierre Webo sealed Tenerife's fate as he scored the last goal for Mallorca from the penalty spot in a 4-0 walloping of Tenerife, who finished with nine men.

BELGIUM

Dieumerci Mbokani scored the second goal for titleholders Standard Liege who beat Lokeren 3-1.

The DR Congo striker takes his league tally to three.

Senegalese striker Ibrahim Sidibe scored the only goal of the game as Saint Trond edged out Kortrijk 1-0.

Mali's Mahamadou Dissa led a late comeback by Roulers after they went down 3-0 to Mechelen by half-time.

But Dissa's last-minute goal wasn't enough as Cameroonian Aloys Nong 's earlier goal proved to be the winner as Mechelen won 3-2.

However, there was a successful fightback for two other Africans as FC Bruges came from behind to beat Westerlo 4-1.

Nigeria striker Joseph Akpala scored the second for Bruges in the 27th minute, while Cameroon's Dorge Kouemaha struck in the final minute of the game.

Senegal's Mbaye Leye equalised for Gent who are second in the table in the 1-1 draw with third-place Anderlecht.

FRANCE

Asamoah Gyan was the hero as Rennes trounced Grenoble 4-0.

The Ghana striker opened the scoring in the first minute of the game before blasting home a spot kick in the second half.

The striker now has four goals to his credit and Rennes lie fourth in the table after six games.

One of the other goals in the game was scored by Senegal defender Abdou Kader Mangane .

Cameroon striker Paul Efoulou scored his third of the season in the last minute for Nancy but it wasn't enough as they lost 3-1 at Lorient.

Tunisia defender Fahid Ben Khalfallah scored his first goal of the season for Valenciennes in the 5-2 win over 10-man Sochaux.

Three Senegalese players were on target in Marseille's 4-2 thumping of Montpellier.

Captain Mamadou Niang and defender Souleymane Diawara scored for Marseille, while Souleymane Camara scored Montpellier's second goal from the penalty spot.

GERMANY

An African duo assured Freiburg of all three points in the 4-0 away win at Hertha Berlin.

DR Congo striker Cedrick Makiadi and Cameroon's Mahamadou Idrissou were both on target in the first half as Freiburg triumphed comfortably.

Ivorian Didier Ya Konan equalised for Dortmund one minute after half-time in the 1-1 draw at Hannover.

Burkinabe Wilfred Sanou scored the second goal in FC Koln's 2-0 away victory over Stuttgart.

The most dramatic of results was at Borussia Monchengladbach where Hoffenheim scored three goals in the last five minutes to win 4-2.

Nigeria's Chinedu Obasi and Senegalese striker Demba Ba struck in the dying moments of the game to give Hoffenheim a precious away victory.

HOLLAND

Ghana defender Emmanuel Boakye was sent off with 15 minutes to go but his Sparta Rotterdam side still managed to draw 1-1 at Heracles Almelo.

Nigeria's Ayodele Adeleye scored Sparta's goal.

PORTUGAL

Angolan Djalma scored in Maritimo's 2-1 loss to Nacional.

Malian Mourtala Diakite equalised for Belenenses in the second half as his side drew 1-1 with Academica.

Cameroonian Christian Pouga was on target for Leixoes who beat Guimaraes 3-1.

GREECE

Nigeria's Benjamin Onwuachi put Kavala in the lead in their 2-1 win over Atromitos.

His compatriot Suleiman Akim Omolade was the only Panionios player on the scoresheet as they lost 3-1 to Asteras.

TURKEY

Ivorian Serge Djiehoua was sent off in the last minute as his side Antalyaspor were beaten 3-1 by Trabzonspor.

Nigerian Akeem Agbetu pulled a goal back for Sivasspor late in the game as they lost 3-1 to Bursaspor.

SONE ALUKO SAGA

Aluko's Dons future still assured

Aluko will be replaced by Grassi on the left for Aberdeen
Mark McGhee says Sone Aluko's future at Aberdeen has not been affected by the forward's controversial call-up by Nigeria for the Under-20 World Cup.

Aluko was ordered back for a fitness test after leaving for his national squad training camp in Spain without the Dons manager's permission.

"It is not even an issue," said McGhee about his futurer after Aluko played in Saturday's 1-0 win over St Mirren.

"He worked hard in what was a difficult week for him."

Aluko now rejoins his national squad and McGhee could be without the 20-year-old until 16 October should Nigeria progress to the final in Egypt.

One of the reasons why we played Davide Grassi on the left of midfield was to see if he could do a job for us there and I think we saw enough to say he can

Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee
But the Dons manager believes he has unearthed a suitable replacement.

"The real sickener is that we will be missing him for a few weeks because we know he is a match winner," said McGhee.

"One of the reasons why we played Davide Grassi on the left of midfield was to see if he could do a job for us there and I think we saw enough to say he can.

"Sone doesn't have to be as big a loss as he might have seemed, but he certainly will be missed."

The 23-year-old Grassi, previously of Parma, was signed last month with Aluko's likely departure for Egypt in mind.
